After 100 days at PBI, Chief Technology Officer Paul Goduco reflects on what he’s learned, what’s working, and what he’s focused on next. From the strength of a truly global team to the opportunity ahead in automation and security, Paul shares his perspective on where PBI stands and how the company is positioning itself to better serve clients as they grow.
A Culture That Works
Paul’s first observations weren’t about systems or tools. They were about people.
PBI is a global company, with team members spread across multiple regions and time zones. What struck Paul wasn’t just that the team manages that complexity well. It was how naturally they do it. People look out for one another, step up when needed, and bring a genuine can-do attitude to their work every day. For a new leader walking into an organization, that’s not something you can put in place overnight.
That kind of team is also a strong foundation to build on, because when people are aligned and trust each other, getting things done becomes much easier.
Where the Business Is Strong
Paul’s early read on the technology side of the business was positive across the board.
The Stratus team is deeply focused on the client experience, providing hands-on support from the earliest stages of a customer relationship through long-term growth. They meet clients where they are and work to understand what each business actually needs, not just what’s easiest to deliver.
PBI’s SaaS offerings, Axiom and Vector, are purpose-built for the industries and markets the company serves. The team understands the complex data challenges their clients face and builds software that works the way clients need it to. That depth of knowledge and domain expertise is what sets PBI apart.
Keeping It Simple as You Grow
One of the clearest lessons from Paul’s first 100 days is that growth doesn’t have to mean more complexity. In fact, the opposite is often true. Businesses that scale well are the ones that keep their processes clear, their expectations consistent, and their execution disciplined.
For Paul, that means making sure the fundamentals are solid across every part of the business, from how new clients are onboarded, to how support is delivered day to day. Clear processes and real accountability aren’t constraints on a good team. They’re what allow a good team to perform consistently, hit their targets, and keep improving over time.
He also sees real opportunity in bringing in more automation and thoughtful use of AI, not to change what makes PBI good at what it does, but to help the team do it faster and more efficiently as the business grows.
Security That Enables, Not Just Protects
On the security side, Paul’s view is that doing it right means going beyond checking boxes. Compliance matters, but the real goal is building an environment where clients can run their businesses without constantly worrying about risk. Security and efficiency should work together, not against each other.
That requires staying genuinely current on what’s available in the market, asking hard questions about what really works, and being selective about what gets implemented. When clients feel confident in the stability and safety of their environment, they’re more willing to take on new challenges and grow. That trust, Paul believes, is one of the most important things PBI can offer as a long-term partner.
What Comes Next
One hundred days in, Paul is focused and optimistic. The team is strong, the foundation is solid, and the opportunity ahead is real. The priority now is straightforward: deliver for clients, raise the bar, and build on a culture that already knows how to get things done.
